Me and Sherry in Clavey. My approach was interrupted when the raft surfed a bit in the little drop I just went over.
Raft is finally free and I think I'm OK, but ...
... the current drags me too far to the left
This is not where I want to be. I'm sure Sherry is feeling the same way.
Miraculously, the raft doesn't wrap ...
... and gets flushed out.
OK, a bit of a bumpy start but things are now under control ...
Over the rock we go.
... except the raft is full of water (but slowly draining) and I just popped my left oar. Oh and did I mention we're headed for a big submerged rock.
Sigh of relief, but probably not yet aware my left oar is out of the oarlock
Now I'm actually trying to row and am not getting any grab on the left side
Trying to set the left oar back with one hand
There's still more of the rapid coming up so focus on getting the left oar reset. At this point Sherry's probably wondering why I'm not pulling back hard from the wall.
The good news is I'm back in control. The bad news is I'm on the wrong side of the river
At this point I think I have a better chance going to the left of the big rock downstream ...
... made it passed that one, but ...
Yikes, time for a high side.
Disaster averted, "again".
One last drop coming up
No problem, just like I planned it. No wraps. No swimmers. What more can you ask for?
